Searchability and findability: exploring knowledge on the Web

Date: 17 May 2012
Location: Viale Regina Margherita 125, Rome, Italy
Exploring information is an every-day task performed by users dealing with knowledge-intensive tasks as well as by generic Web users. The goal of this meetup is to discuss the problem of searchability and findability of information and knowledge exploration. The ideal contributions to this meetup are (not limited to): (i) demos of software applications based on methods for semantic-driven search, organization, and exploration of knowledge (ii) experiences in applying such tools to CMS, and (iii) requirements from industry and customers related to such tasks.

The meetup will include a presentation/demo by Valentina Presutti (STLab, ISTC-CNR) who will show a tool for exploratory search on Wikipedia knowledge [1]; a presentation/demo by Andrea Volpini (insideout10), who will show WordLift [2] a plugin aimed at enhancing Wordpress with empowered support for knowledge organization, and findabilty; a presentation/demo by Alessandra Donnini (etcware), who will show Skosware [3], a framework for managing and exploiting thesauri in CMS platforms; a presentation/demo by Carlo Barbieri (Wolfram|Alpha) on how to explore datasets from the Open Data world using the new Wolfram|Alpha Pro [4].

All those who are interested in such technologies and related topics, and/or can contribute with demos or experience are welcome to contact me [5] and RSVP to this meetup.
